Dear all,

Namaskar!

I’d like to welcome all of you, bona fide members of Society of Nepalese Students in Korea (SONSIK), the official organization of all Nepalese students studying in South Korea. First of all, let me express my inmost gratitude for entrusting me to be the president of this prestigious group, SONSIK. To my seniors, fellow students and friends, I am sincerely thankful for your support which has opened an opportunity for me to serve you.

Being a member of SONSIK for several years now, I’ve learned a great deal of life long lessons. One of those is the importance of working together. As Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” The same thought resonates in me whenever I look at the SONSIK movement in South Korea. Working together can definitely bring us to a higher level of cooperation through active participation by each member. In the quest of reaching our common goal, that is to provide an environment wherein, we, Nepalese students can thrive together. So, how are we going to achieve this? There are three things that I’d like to propose: communication, transparency and fellowship.

We need to provide a venue wherein we can sit together and talk about things that matters to us as students while studying in Korea and things that concern us about life after Korea. Indeed, communication is a tool to speak, listen and act. As a president, I assure you that I would provide a platform where you can express yourself for the betterment of SONSIK. Next, there must be transparency of SONSIK’s plans, finances, and achievements- this is to ensure that we have a clear idea of what we are doing as a team. Lastly, it is my desire for all of us to develop a sense of community where we share the same values from our homeland. There is a need for us to fellowship with each other by actively participating on our activities. I must call this as “SONSIK experience”. An experience that is fun, memorable and valuable. All of these are possible depending on how much you give your time and effort for the group.

Moreover, on behalf of the SONSIK, I would like to welcome all new team members and I do hope that with their participation, our dear SONSIK will shine even brighter. Furthermore, I urge you all to be original, to question more, participate to learn, and execute to succeed. Again, thank you!

Sincerely Yours,
